The story and illustrations of this book will attract any young child.  However, the lion does not eat humans and there are guns involved.  That is why it is best to save it for older children.  The plot is great.  Very good story for children struggling with pride and showing off.  Kid's will love the illustrations of the lion walking on hind legs and dressed up.  the names in the book are also very funny, though hard to pronounce.  Makes people look very stupid and self centered.  May need to make sure the child is old enough to handle the content of the story or young enough that is just goes over their head.
