This book is appropriate for this age group because the reading is easy to understand. The content of this book would probably be most appropriate for children who are growing up in a Christian home and/or church.

It definitely emphasizes the need for God in your life and His Almighty power and hand in everything. Therefore, it may cover religious differences that not all parents want their children reading. However, for a Christian parent, this is a good book to encourage your child to read. It will teach them the Bible in an easy to understand story keeping them very interested. The plot is interesting and moves along nicely. It is about Moses' growing up years in Egypt and how he is used by God to rescue God's people from Egyptian bondage. There is a lot of dialogue but the words are fairly easy to read for younger children. It would be a great book to read aloud to a class as well as great for a child to read to himself.
