Because of
Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo

| The plot is simple, but very deep. |
| The characters change and develop over the
course of the book. They learn lessons that everyone should learn, but not in
a very obvious way. |
| The story is written from the perspective of
the little girl and the language is very appropriate and refreshing. |
| A little girl finds a dog in the new town she
just moved to. Her father is the pastor and her mom left them when she was
three. She doesn't have any friends until she meets this dog. She learns about
life and people and forgiveness. |
