The content in this book is appropriate for these
grade levels because it helps them to relate to the little
boy in the book. Some of the children in class will have a strong desire to
own a pet and because of some reason will not be able to have one. They will
be able to feel for the character in this book who is not allowed to have
the pet dog that he dreams about. This book will also teach children that
they can do great things. The young boy in the story both convinces his
parents to allow him to have a pet dog and rescues a puppy from its abusive
owner. This book is appropriate for slow readers because there were not too
many unfamiliar words used. This book was an altogether wonderful book that
every child should enjoy reading.
